A bit about the Club...
The club was formed in the Spring of 1998, its main aim being 'to promote GPx's and GPz's and to enable fellow owners/riders to get the most from their bikes'.
It was set up by a group of enthusiasts who, fed up with their bikes either being ignored or unfairly slated by the bike press, decided enough was enough GPx's and GPz's are bikes worth owning and shouting about! And despite the fact that although never quite as popular as their competitors of the day and quite a rare sight on the roads, Kawasaki must have still sold quite a few - so there must be lots of other people around who felt the same.
…And there were and not just GPx and GPz riders either. Owners of similar engined machinery (eg. ER5, ZZ-R250, ZX10, ZR7 etc) also wanted to join in the fun. So in 2000 the club name was 'tweaked' to GPX-GPZ The Kwaks Owners Club to take in to account the variety of machine we cover. However despite the fact we have grown immensely over the years we still strive to be 'the friendly club for Kawasaki enthusiasts'.
More recently, we have received enquiries from ZZ-R, ZXR, ZRX and ZX-Ninja riding Kawasaki enthusiasts - all interested in either finding out more about the club or simply about becoming a member. So we really are becoming The Kwaks Owners Club.
However it is fair to say that all the bikes we cover have common links - apart from being Kawasaki's of course (!) - they are comparatively cheap to buy and not too expensive to run. Plus, they not only offer excellent value for money, but are also top fun to ride. Throw in a decent riding position, the usual Kawasaki aggressive styling lines, rugged-ness in the mechanical department and comparative rarity (when was the last time you saw one?) and you really have got a great, but much forgotten and very underrated series of motorcycles.
Proof that you don't need to spend a fortune on state-of-the-art machinery to have top fun on two wheels!
